Carl Nielsen graduated from Falmouth College Of Arts in 2003 and has since been working as a practising artist, alongside his other profession as a Fine Art valuer and auctioneer within national and international auction houses. Through this profession he has had the opportunity to study at close hand the techniques of the old masters.
 

You can hire Living History Portraits for your living history or re-enactment events in the UK or Europe. All educational or museum facilities can create a public program  with Living History Portraits.

Carl can set up his painting studio at your outdoor program, set up in your tent, or occupy a room in your historic house. He is also available for specialty presentations for schools, museums and historical societies. Carl has studied the development of portraiture throughout history, using authentic materials and wearing period correct clothing, he discusses details of his work and methods in historical art and period specificcontext.
 

Within your event I can also hold educational art workshops, where classes in portraiture can be arranged for the public. It is a unique way to engage the public further at your event.
 

I am also happy to attend group or regimental banquets to sketch portraits throughout the evening as a unique record of your evening. This can also be arranged for weddings where we will sketch your guests as a unique form of entertainment.
