About

We are a young, vibrant, award winning Bhangra dance team who are committed to keeping traditional folk dance alive. The meaning of ‘Ankhile’ is self-respecting. As a team, we take pride in representing the art of Bhangra and we thrive on ‘amazing’ our audiences with our dancing skills. We have been dancing for several years and have vast experience in performing at many events including weddings, parties, festivals, music videos and charity shows.

The grace, energy and tradition that Ankhile Putt Punjab De represents has captivated audiences all over the world. Our consistent strive for perfection is incorporated into every aspect of our teaching and performances and we persistently train to be the best!

As a Bhangra Dance Group we strive to be the best in our industry. We continually train ourselves to perfect our performances and constantly looking to learn new techniques and skills which will make us stand out from the rest.

We have travelled the world bringing Bhangra to new audiences but whilst we have been doing this we have picked up few awards and achievements along the way.

Performed at Vancouver International Bhangra Competition – May 2011
Performed at Giant Magnet (Seattle International Children’s Festival) – May 2011
Participated in a 150000 ft Skydive for Khalsa Aid – June 2011
Performed at Bhangra wars Bhangra competition performance for Khalsa Aid and Focus Punjab – Oct 2011
Performed at HSBC Charity event for Clic Sargent – Nov 2011
Performed for and carried out a workshop for Smith Woods primary school. Entertaining and spreading our culture amongst 9-11 year olds – May 2012
Competed at Desi Moves competition and placed 1st! – May 2012
Competed at Folkstars 2012 and placed 2nd! – November 2012
Harpal was nominated by the Institute of Asain Businesses for ‘The Young Entreprenuer of the Year Award’ – November 2012
UK tour with the world famous Military Wives – February 2013
Created female based Bhangra dance team called ‘Ankhile Girls’ – February 2013
Performed at Mundial Festival, Eindhoven, The Netherlands – June 2013
Expanded our dance classes ‘Ankhile Dance Unit’ to Sandwell College teaching Bhangra to the younger generations – June 2013
Performed at the world film premiere of Nabar starring Nishawn Bhullar – September 2013
Performed alongside International Superstar Gippy Grewal at Brit Asia Awards 2013 – October 2013
Competed at Bhangra Wars Bhangra dance competition with both female and male teams, Ankhile Putt Punjab De and Ankhile Girls – November 2013
Performed at the WS10 conference suite. A fundraiser for Anthony Nolans charity and helped raise a total of £2905.00 – November 2013
Competed at Sky One’s Got to Dance – May 2014
Performed in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for a private event – June 2014
Performed at the Commonwealth Games Festival 2014, Glasgow – July 2014
